Kabul (BNA) President Hamid Karzai chaired a meeting of the National Security Council at the Presidential Palace during which he informed the participants over the results of the high-ranking Afghan delegation visit to China.
He said that the visit had its positive outcome in terms of expansion of bilateral political security, economic and cultural ties.
The Chinese authorities in their meeting with the Afghan delegation confirmed the recent measures of the government of Afghanistan about restoration of peace and reconciliation and conclusion of bilateral pacts and strategic agreements with the regional and world countries and asked for acceleration of the process of peace and national reconciliation.
From the viewpoints of President Karzai delivering of USD32 million cash aid of China has been considered instrumental towards the economy of Afghanistan in 2013 agreement on which was reached during the visit to China.
The National Security Council Advisor reported at the (NSC) that the sides agreed to strengthen exchange of information and experience for struggling against terrorism and the Chinese government pledged that China will assist the security foundations of Afghanistan for upgrading their capacities in this respect.
In another part of the NSC meeting, Ministers of Defense and Interior Affairs reported on the status of Kiran and Munjan district and Wardoj district of Badakhshan.
After assessment in this respect it was decided that the government forces in Badakhshan undertake immediate measures for restoration of security in Badakhshan.
General Shir Mohammad Karimi Chief of Army Staff reported to the meeting about the end of the first phase of joint operations of the security forces and the necessary preparations for start of the second phase of operations in Chapa Dara of Kunar and the president ordered for immediate opening of the Kunar-Nuristan highway.
The NSC confirmed the joint proposal of the Ministries of National Defense, Interior Affairs and Directorate General of National Security over provision of financial privileges to the personnel of security forces who are practically engaged in foiling of mines and explosives and it was decided that in understanding with the Ministry of Finance, additional financial aid has to be provided to the personnel who accepting all threats fighting terrorism in those areas.
Minister of Foreign Affairs informed the meeting about the proposal of the UN pertaining for employment of a number of police officers of UN member states within the UN Peace-Keeping force and it was decided that in understanding with the local organs, interior and defense ministry adopt appropriate measures to be taken for ensuring better security along the highways.
Ensuring the security and consolidation of the good governance in Azra district of Logar province was another issue that was presented by the local organs department and the ministry of frontier and tribal affairs.
The president issued necessary instructions to the security ministries, frontier and tribal affairs and the local organs department in this respect.
At the end of the meeting discussed the air force ability of the country, and the meeting heard the report of finance ministry about purchasing of 4 transport planes of Boeing 727 of Arianna Airlines by the defense ministry, and stressed that in order to resolve the transportation problem of the defense ministry’s personnel, the ministry was instructed to buy 4 planes of the Arianna along with its accessories and spare parts.
