NATO Military Bases

Sunday, August 26, 2012
Kabul (BNA) The Afghan government and NATO have reached to a deal that after the withdrawal of foreign forces from the country their troops’ bases would be presented to the Afghan security forces.
The processes to put forward these stations started before and till now close to 100 important strategic military stations have been handed over to defense ministry.
It is expected that the control of the remained bases of the foreign forces stationed in the country would be gradually given to the Afghan forces if they are capable of maintaining security in their respective regions.
So it means, when security transition process begins in an area and Afghan forces take the lead within that time foreign forces military bases would be accessible to Afghan security services according to the requirements of Afghan forces.
President Karzai ordered the creation of a commission supervised by the ministry of finance to propose delivery of these bases to the ministry of defense or other relevant ministries.
NATO has also promised to leave behind their military stations to Afghan security forces.
The decision as a success covers the comments that foreign forces after their pull out would destroy their camps and assertions made in this regard would be useless.
Meanwhile the ministry of defense also has intended that after the security transition in a region it would specify these stations.
To fight terrorists and insurgents and overcome the security threats and challenges in the country the existence of these military bases are pivotal for Afghan security forces.
The presence of a powerful national army and strengthening air force is a dire need to protect the national sovereignty, implement law, secure rule of law and achieve a peaceful atmosphere in the country, because without equipping of security forces; peace order and stability are impossible.
In this critical situation of the country in which efforts are going on for the successful completion of transition process, peace and other requirements such as national values, the fortification of security forces with military helicopters, airplanes and with other sophisticated weapons is a necessity, so till the end of 2014 our security forces can shoulder all the security responsibilities of the country, retort the enemies and foil all their heinous plans and intentions.
In the last nine years with the help of international community large steps have been taken for formation of national army, police and security forces and till now the strengthening of national army is a must.
