President Ghani, Pak PM Discuss Peace, Elections

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan have conferred on upcoming presidential election, peace and trade, BNA report. In a telephonic conversation held on Wednesday night, the Pakistan PM also condemned recent attacks on President Ghani’s campaign rally in central Parwan province.
The two sides also spoke in detail on the benefits of the round-the-clock opening of the Torkham crossing. Khan emphasizing on an Afghan-owned and Afghan-led peace process. President Ghani, who once again invited Khan to visit Kabul, tweeted: “Pleased to have received phone call from Prime Minister Imran Khan last night. “He offered his condolences regarding the loss of Parwan and Kabul provinces. We also discussed the peace process and upcoming election.”
President Ghani wrote: “As there’s precedence of Pakistan’s held in reduction of violence during past elections, I ask Pakistan to help mitigate violence in the next one. PM Khan promised help within their capacity.”
