Afghanistan’s Radio, TVs Union Established

Sunday, June 14, 2015
Kabul (BNA) The former Afghan President Hamid Karzai offered conditional support for the presence of foreign forces in Afghanistan.
Speaking during the inauguration of Radios and Televisions Association, the former President said his main issue with the coalition forces was regarding the civilian casualties.
Karzai said he was regularly criticized for objecting the coalition forces regarding the civilian casualties but he insisted that he remained silent in a bid to respect the freedom of speech. He noted a question by a German journalist during his recent trip where he was asked regarding his stance on coalition forces presence in Afghanistan.
Karzai said “In response to their question, I insisted that the coalition forces should respect the national unity, refrain from creating divisions among the Afghans and weakening the sovereignty of the country and refrain from handing over the Afghan people to another country.”
He said “We will not create any prohibition if these conditions were met, otherwise their presence will not be for the betterment of Afghanistan.”
