Kabul (BNA) Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries has welcomed a one-day trade conference held in Pakistan’s Peshawar Khyber-Pakhtoonkhwa and said such meetings could solve problems faced by trade challenges between the people of the two sides of borders.
Afghan traders were invited to attend the conference to seek solution to their problems.
Saifuddin Saihoon, an economic expert told The Kabul Times that these conferences could tackle all trade problems of the two countries, but if were based the trade standards and under exports and imports rules. Such conferences would tackle trade challenges of the two countries.
“Holding trade conferences is one of the regional principles and naturally can tackle many relevant challenges,” said Saihoon.
He said strengthening trade relations instead of consolidating war geography and sending terrorists and that such conferences
He quoted an English proverb saying “No war in the trade zone” and said the recent bilateral trade conference could institutionalize the principle of joint investment between the two countries people.
According to him, such conferences should be held with two dimensions; fist the government should lead and the second could be run by the civil society and the people to the two countries, as they need political support. But he warned such conferences gives no result out of security posts support.
Government to government and people to people contact, as well as inter-organizational cooperation can play positive role in tackling these requirements.
Saihoon believed expansion of regional cooperation between the people of the sides of borders would help them get rid of wide economic poverty and illiteracy as lack of infrastructures in that side the border clearly indicates that they are more deprived in compression to other world people.
This is while, trade challenges still exist despite many such conferences were held between the two countries governments.
