President Ghani Appeals Public Sapling Plantation

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani planted a tree within the compound of the presidential palace on the eve of the New Year 1395, a presidential statement said, adding that by planting of trees President Ghani asked all Afghans that through planting of trees make their homes, regions and surrounding greener.
“Planting sapling is our religious and national responsibility that to protect our environment. Generations are interconnected and when we plant a sapling today would benefit the future generation,” the president said, adding that the Ministry of Agriculture Irrigation and Livestock would start Kabul’s green belt with 550 KM long and that would contain around 10 thousand acres of land in the coming years. Hinting on reviving of the country’s forests and environment, the president said that his plan for Kabul environment is to make the city the same that Babur shah once liked it. Congratulating Afghans the New Year eve, the president hoped that every countrymen and women participate in greenery of their homeland.
A number of the civil society activists, students, cabinet members, municipality officials participated in the inauguration of Kabul’s green belt in Badam Bagh area of the city and through sapling plantation, have fulfilled their social and religious responsibility.
