Govt. Ready tTo Take Serious Steps Regarding Blasphemous Article Published In Afghanistan Express Daily: CM

Kabul (BNA) The Council of Ministers (CM) with chief executive officer Dr. Abdullah Abdullah on the chair in its periodical meeting held yesterday strongly condemned publishing blasphemous article by the Daily of Afghanistan Express as against Islamic values and said that the government is ready to take serious actions in this regard.
Presidential press office stated BNA, besides stressing for freedom of press as envisaged in the constitution, the chief executive officer emphasized for respecting religious values in the country.
The chief executive officer also asked the acting minister for information and culture to explain about publishing the blasphemous article.
In his explanation, the acting minister of information and culture said that the paper, “Afghanistan Express is not registered with the ministry and still the Dari or Pashtu content of the article has not been published in official gazette.”
Terming the content of the article as against religious values, Dr. Raheen said to pursue the issue through legal means and would report the Council of Ministers.
The chief executive officer also instructed the acting minister for information and culture to take legal action for arresting those responsible for publishing the article in its earliest. As per agenda, acting defense minister presented his report on enemies’ programs in 2014 and security challenges and said the security personnel had foiled the enemies “Khyber” operations by launching “Fatah” operations elsewhere in the country. Acting foreign minister briefed the meeting on the date of London Conference, issuing work permit, condition of Afghan refugees in Gulf countries and said the London Conference due to SAARC conference was postponed for December 4 and 5. With regard to the problems of national and private banks in the country, the chief executive officer instructed the acting finance minister to study their problems in meeting with bank officials and present the report in the next meeting of CM. Chief executive officer also instructed the acting minister for information and culture to examine the change of name of Faiz Mohammad Katib Hazara road to other name and report him. Dr. Raheen said that in line with the draft of CM the road had been named after Mohammad Katib Hazara but due to the problems of Municipality naming the road avoided. However, Dr. Raheen promised to follow it and report to CM. The chief executive officer also instructed the acting defense minister to investigate the complaints of Paktika people with regard to kidnapping of some traders by army personnel and killing them in Ghazni.
