ANA’s Air Defense Unit Not Equipped, Activated Yet, Waziri

Kabul (BNA) Ministry of National Defense says as the country’s air forces have been equipped with modern equipment, but some sections for which air forces needed now seriously have not been equipped and activated yet.  According to officials for MoD, the country’s air forces are now facing with lack of air crafts. Dawlat Waziri, a spokesman to ministry of defense in a joint news conference with spokesman to ministry of interior said, “There are problems in air defense forces and supportive air crafts, adding work on this section of the country’s air forces is seriously continuing.” Waziri further said currently 20 Afghan pilots were receiving training in US, which has promised that it would hand over 20 supportive airplanes to Afghanistan government until end of the current year. Military experts and the country’s defending and security officials considered role of air forces in particular air defense support as effective in suppressing of terrorists, insisting on equipment and activation of this section. Waziri stressed that work on the country’s air forces started five years ago, saying that lots of works have been done in this section so far. He added that ability and capability of the country’s security forces have increased and currently Afghan security forces were engaged in fighting against armed insurgents in a number of provinces where the armed insurgents have suffered heavy casualties. The deputy spokesman to MoD further said that all Afghan security forces have been ordered to suppress armed insurgents in each part of the country and defend the people and borders of the country without any coordination with the capital.
