Balkh High Schools Get New Buildings

Mazar-e-Sharif (BNA) Two newly constructed buildings for schools were inaugurated yesterday in northern Balkh province, officials said.
One of the buildings for Sheikh Mohammad Siddique High School costs $150,000 which had been provided by the UN-Habitat.  Also the local people contributed 25,000 Afghanis for the construction of the school building, Education Director Qais Mehrain said.  He said the building has administrative rooms and 16 classrooms for 4,000 students.  The second building for the Ghulam Mohammad Maimangi High School costs $245,000 funded by UNICEF and UN-Habibat.  Also the parantes of the students have been provided 20 per cent of the total cost. Balkh has 504 schools where 10, 199 teachers teach 54, 0178 pupils, including 22, 8812 females.
