IDB to Continue Cooperation With Afghanistan

Kabul (BNA) President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, alongside his Saudi Arabia visit met with the governor of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), Dr. Bandar al-Hajjar and discussed some key economic issues, a statement from the presidential press office said Sunday.
During the meeting, which was held at the Saudi’s Jadda city, the country’s president, pointing to the country’s agricultural and fruit exports to the world markets and asked the Islamic Development Bank to invest for further growth of Afghan agriculture products, improvement of the farmers’ live and revenues in Afghanistan, the statement said.
The president also said the IDB’s cooperation with the Afghan producers, by giving them long-term loans, would help them improve agricultural sector in the country.
The IDB governor, meanwhile praised the afghan government, particularly, President Ghani , for making efforts for economic development in the country and said that the IDB would continue cooperation in the fields of development and funding big projects in Afghanistan, according to the statement.  At the presence of the country’s president, the IDB governor and Dr. Mohammad Hamayoun Qayumi, Acting Minister of Finance signed an agreement for the construction a 100-bed hospital and four clinics in Afghanistan.
