Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met with US Secretary of State’s Special Envoy on Afghan Peace Process Zalmai Khalilzad, the Presidential Palace said in a statement the other day.
During the meeting, Khalilzad shared the details of his visits to regional countries, India, China and UAE aimed to establish a regional consensus to commence peace process, adding he would continue his visits, according to the statement. He also answered the questions had been asked by participants. Afterwards, the president while appreciating Khalilzad’s efforts to revive peace negotiations with Taliban said there was a complete consensus to restore peace in Afghanistan. Both sides also stressed on starting Afghan-led and owned peace process. The meeting was attended by First Vice President Abdul Rashid Dostum, Second VP Sarwar Danesh, Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, and some other national figures and political parties’ leaders.
