President Ghani Pays Visit To Mes Aynak Copper Mine

Kabul (BNA) Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, accompanied by acting minister of information and culture, deputy minister of mines and petroleum, state minister for parliamentary affairs, cultural advisor to president, acting governor of Logar and a number of security officials paid a visit to various sections of Logar’s Ainak copper mine. 
During his visit to the mine, President Ghani said, “Currently relations between Afghanistan and China have entered into new phase and it is necessary to take key steps towards further expansion of the relations.”
The country’s president considered Logar’s Ainak copper mine as significant economical resource for the country, saying that China signed agreement on extraction of the mine, concerned over security.
President Ghani asked Afghan security forces to maintain security for the mine through close coordination with each other so that extraction works on the mine to begin soon.
The country’s president also paid a visit to historic sites in the mine and instructed officials for information and culture ministry to protect and oversee current historic monuments in the area.
