Monday, March 17, 2014
Kabul (BNA) Chairman of the Independent Elections Commission (IEC), Dr. Yousuf Nuristani on Sunday warned those government officials planning to take part in the presidential or provincial runners’ electoral campaigns to be fired of their job.
BNA reported he called the government officials’ interference in the electoral campaigns intolerable and said they were banned of working for a special nominee or attend the electoral rallies.
Earlier, while addressing the national assembly, President Hamid Karzai said no government official could interfere in the elections or work for special nominee.
The president said both IEC and ECC should report such cases to presidential office if faced during the electoral campaigns.
Under the president warning, the IEC chairman once again warned those government officials to lose their jobs if seen interfering in the election or working for a special nominee, however he didn’t name any special candidate.
Meanwhile, the IEC chairman, asked the presidential nominees for introducing their monitors to the commission until April 5 this year.
