Foreign Minister Mohammad Haneef Atmar arrived in Jeddah on a three-day visit to Saudi Arabia, this evening. According to a statement of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, the purpose of Minister Atmar’s visit to Saudi Arabia is to further strengthen bilateral relations, particularly the expansion of trade and economic relations as well as to appreciate Riyadh’s support for the Afghan peace process. During this visit, the foreign minister is due to meet his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud and a number of other high-ranking officials to discuss wide-ranging issues, including strengthening global and regional consensus and increasing the Islamic world’s support for the Afghan Peace Process.
