International Radio Day Observed

Kabul (BNA) The international Radio Day was observed here yesterday with the message of President Hamid Karzai and speech of Dr. Sayed Makhdoom Raheen Minister of Information and Culture. 
President Karzai in his message readout by general director of RTA, Mohammad Zarin Anzor, said, “With the invention of radio a revolution came into mass media and all families who used to have radio gets familiars with the situation in the world”. 
Any one including literate and illiterate can benefit from radio, the president said in the message. 
Addressing at the ceremony, Dr. Raheen termed Radio as very important instrument in the field of media, saying Radio Afghanistan or previously Radio Kabul was established during King Amanullah and after being silence for several years was rehabilitated 70 years ago.
Dr. Raheen added that 10 years ago when the operation of RTA was resumed it was very limited and covered few areas but fortunately today RTA is watched and heard in major parts of the world.  Later, UNESCO representative readout the message of UNESCO general manager where in it said that radio birth in 19th century brought revolution and still is used as the cheap and economic instrument everywhere in the world as the most common instrument in getting information on the situation in the globe.
