Kabul (BNA) Shahrzad Akbar, Chairwoman of the Independent Human Rights Commission of Afghanistan, met with Second Vice President, Sarwar Danesh, here yesterday, a statement said. During the meeting, Akbar spoke about the executive plans of the Afghan Independent Human Rights Commission in various fields, according to a statement from VP press office.
The chairwoman of Afghanistan’s Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) has expressed concern over terrorist violence and civilian casualties, calling the attack on schoolchildren a clear example of targeted killings and crimes against humanity.
The meeting also discussed other human rights issues, including the Anti-Torture Law, the functioning of the Commission for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders, and other responsibilities of the Human Rights Commission to protect the rights of citizens.
Reciprocally, Vice President Danesh, while appreciating the efforts and activities of the Independent Human Rights Commission to promote human rights values, welcomed the Commission’s programs to defend the civil rights of the Afghan people.
He, as quoted in the statement added that the Afghan government is committed to defending the fundamental rights and freedoms of its citizens, as well as to defending human rights defenders, and strongly supports the Independent Human Rights Commission as the body directly responsible in this regards.
