LASHKARGAH (BNA): During a recent visit to Helmand, the Acting Minister of Information and Culture, Mullah Khairullah Khairkhwa, toured the historic castle of Qala Bost.
He was accompanied by Alhaj Hafiz Abdul Bari Rashid, the Director of the Information and Culture Department in Helmand.
Khairkhwa highlighted the ongoing restoration of historical buildings in Afghanistan. He stated that the Ministry’s technical teams are actively identifying and documenting historical buildings and ancient sites across the country.
He underscored Afghanistan’s appeal to tourists and discussed efforts to overcome tourism challenges, with the aim of enabling visitors to explore all regions. Khairkhwa announced the initiation of a road construction project leading to Qala Bast, for which funding has been secured.
Contradicting some media reports about illegal excavations and seizures of historical sites, Khairkhwa affirmed the presence of a dedicated military unit tasked with preserving historical buildings and ancient sites in Afghanistan.
Finally, Khairkhwa urged all Afghan citizens to refrain from construction or cultivation activities at historical sites, warning of legal repercussions.
