Chief Executive Inaugurates Afghanistan Pine Nut Union

Kabul (BNA) Chief Executive  Dr. Abdullah Abdullah in opening ceremony of ‘Afghanistan Pine Nut Union’ held yesterday in Kabul said that although such moves appeared minor, they would help practically bring key changes in life of Afghan residents and improve the country’s economy.
“Afghanistan has increasing capacity for agriculture and investment on the country’s agricultural products is a key step that should be paid further attention,” added the country’s chief executive.
Considering investment on agricultural products such as facilitator of further possibilities in life of the people, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah said the most important consequence of such initiatives is an increase in products and exports and the financial gains for farmers.
He stressed that the national unity government was fully supporting economic programs as such moves had direct relations on governance, maintaining of security and improvement of the people’s economic level.  Expressing happiness over establishment of Afghanistan Pine Nut Union, the country’s chief executive promised that he would instruct government relevant organs for further efforts towards improvement of their affairs in this regard.
At the ceremony, acting head of Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) Khan Jan Alokozay said that although NUG leaders have always supported private sector, there were still some challenges facing investors and traders, asking for further support.
He said that Afghanistan’s pine nuts were exporting to Pakistan in low price, but the nuts were exported to other countries in high price after processed in Pakistan.  Alokozay considered the formation of Afghanistan Pine Nut Union as a significant move towards processing and exporting the nuts to other countries.
