Practical Measures Needed For Kabul Security, CE Abdullah

Kabul (BNA) Chaired by Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, the Council of Ministers (CMs) held session in its new building, CE office said in a statement on Monday.
Pointing at recent terrorist attacks in Kabul and other provinces of the country, CE Abdullah expressed sympathy with victims’ families and prayed for those martyred, the statement further said.
Asking for serious security measures in the capital Kabul, Dr. Abdullah added the security entities should arrange their practical plans to ensure security and prevent terror attacks, the statement added.
While congratulating inauguration of CMs new building, CE Abdullah thanked security officials for their patience in previous hall, where had no enough capacity, the statement continued.
Then, the CE reviewed the CMs agenda which were including presentation of a report on the country’s security situation, World Trade Organization (WTO) inter-ministerial committee’s performances report, proposal of Rahmat Sahil Mohammad company on investment in wood industry and manufacturing of furniture in Kunar, environment pollution in Kabul, performances report of fourth quarter of 1395, second and third quarters of 1396 on 1325 resolution of UNSC (women, peace and security), performances report of first and third quarters of 1396 fiscal year of Afghanistan National Standards Authority and the first year plan of Kabul Municipality for management of Kabul traffic.
During the meeting, the interior minister said as a result of recent terrorist attacks in Kabul and Nangarhar provinces, 237 people have been killed and over 300 others wounded, the statement added.
“We have conducted many operations in Kandahar, Ghazni, Helmand, Faryab and some other provinces and took the revenge of our countrymen,” the interior minister Wais Ahmad Barmak said.
During heavy air and ground operation, at least 359 enemies have been killed, 100 others wounded and 16 apprehended, the interior minister further said.
He said Kabul was at the focal point of the enemies, but we have taken necessary security measures to foil their attacks, the statement continued.
The defense minister also spoke about conducting operations in eleven provinces and said the recent operations have been effective. After hearing the security officials’ reports, Dr. Abdullah said we wanted practical measures to be taken to ensure security of Kabul. Expressing hope on changes in Farah province, CE Abdullah said the new leadership would change situation of Farah. According to the statement, in the meeting, the foreign minister called establishing inter-ministerial committee an achievement of his ministry on implementation of national action plan.
