‘92 Thousand Tons of Wheat Distributed To Natural Disaster Victims’

Kabul (BNA)  Addressing an event ‘Government Accountability before nation’ here at the government media and information center yesterday, the state minister for counter disaster said that 92 thousand tons of wheats were distribute to natural disaster victims last year. Najeeb Aqa Fahim went on saying that his led organization has made assessment of the districts and areas which were vulnerable to avalanches, rocks and rains, aiming to reduce the amount of threats “We do forecast of the weather condition on weekly basis and prepared a working mechanism for the provincial commissions of counter disasters to better address those affected by natural disasters,” minister Fahim added.
He went on saying that his ministry could distribute 13 thousand tons of foodstuffs in 8 provinces, facilitated potable water to 900 thousands of families, provided healthcare facilities to 400 thousand families in twenty provinces and distributed 92 thousand tons of wheat in 34 provinces of the country as part of their programs to counter drought. Minister of counter disaster said that in close coordination with partner agencies could clean 62 kilometer squares of areas from landmines in last year, adding government has proper planning to address natural disaster victims as well as inform the people on possibility of natural disasters.
