Kabul (BNA) The 176th meeting of the National Procurement Commission (NPC) presided by H.E Mohammad Ashraf Ghani; the President of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan was held on Monday evening; January 7th, 2019 at the Presidential Palace. At this meeting; eight contracts have been reviewed which resulted in approval of all; worth 22.8 million USD; which includes the following contracts: – The contract for the construction of 200 bed hospital in Kunar province; related to Ministry of Public Health, – The contract for procurement of two types of oil (Diesel & Petrol); related to Capital Region Independent Development Authority (CRIDA), – The contract for procurement and construction projects of pipe and cable for 26 sites of the Ministry of Interior; related to the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology – The contract for procurement of two types of oil (Diesel & Petrol); related to Upper House (Mashrano Jirga) Meanwhile; after a comprehensive discussion the NPC approved the request of the Ministry of Energy and Water for the establishment of metal and thermal pipes production company. In addition; the Ministry of Public Works request for amendment of the contract (time extension) for the construction and rehabilitation of the road from Sharana to Angor Hada of Paktika province; with 50 km long; was approved by the NPC. On the other hand; the Civil Aviation Authority request on the lower price for construction of Khost province airport terminal also approved by the NPC and decided that the contract should be awarded to the proposed company. The NPC approved the request of the ministry of Mines and Petrolum for signing of Letter of Engagement with the Hogan Lovells Consultancy Company. While discussing the above contracts; H.E the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan; emphasized that all procurement entities must oversee and monitor the implementation of the projects. In this meeting; beside the NPC members; the officials of National Procurement Authority, the national and international observers including the Finance, Budget and National Economy Commissions of the Lower House (Wolasi Jirga), the Integrity Watch Afghanistan (IWA), the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR), and the Combined Security Transition Command (CSTC-A) of the Resolute Support, had also participated.
