Afghan Forces Repulse Taliban Attack in Badakhshan

Kabul (BNA) As many as 24 anti-government militias were killed and four more were wounded during clashes with Afghan security forces in northeastern Badakhshan province.
Hadi Jamal press in-charge of 217 Pamir army corps told BNA correspondent that Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) succeeded to repulse Taliban fighters’ attack in Raghistan district of Badakhshan province.
Jamal added, 24 armed oppositions were killed, four wounded and most parts of the district have been cleared from presence of insurgents.
According to another report, as many as 15 rebels were killed and dozens more were wounded during the clashes with Afghan security forces in southern Kandahar province yesterday morning.
The clashes took place, while Afghan security forces launched attacks on Taliban fighters convey and gathering in Maiwand, Shah Wali Koot and Khakriz districts of the province.
Senior commander of Afghan national army in the south of the country told BNA reporter, the insurgents have been targeted at the time that they wanted to carry out attacks on Afghan security forces’ checkpoints in the mentioned districts.
