Kabul (BNA) The President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, in a meeting with the Independent Election Commission (IEC) Commissioners, listened to their plans regarding the Provincial Councils, District Councils, Ghazni Parliamentary and Municipality elections here yesterday morning, a statement said.
At the meeting held at the presidential palace, the officials of the Afghan Independent Election Commission (IEC) expressed their readiness to hold the elections, according to the statement from the presidential press office.
President Ghani welcomed the IEC’s plans and said that the government was committed to the principle of elections and would provide the necessary facilities for its conduct.
The President, as quoted in the statement, said that regular meetings are being held with the relevant ministries and agencies to implement the plans and their work will be followed based on a clear timetable.
