President Ashraf Ghani To Visit India, Plans To Review Bilateral Relations

Kabul (BNA) Afghanistan's President Ashraf Ghani will be in India on Tuesday on the invitation of Prime Minister Modi to review the bilateral relations between the two countries. Afghanistan's President Ashraf Ghani would be in Delhi on Tuesday for a one day 'working visit' to review the bilateral relations between the two countries. He will be here at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi which was extended to him by India's National Security Advisor Ajit Doval when the latter visited Kabul on the 16th of October. One of India's most important strategic partners in the neighborhood, President Ghani and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold detailed delegation level talks.
President Ghani will also meet with his Indian counterpart, President Kovind. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will call on the Afghan President. He will also address a public gathering at the Vivekanand International Foundation.
An Afghan government official told India Today that "trade, security and regional issues are the main topics of discussion." A statement from Ministry of External Affairs read, "Both sides will have the opportunity to review the entire gamut of multifaceted bilateral strategic partnership, including the New Development Partnership; hold consultations and coordinate on furthering the shared objective of promoting peace, security, stability and prosperity in Afghanistan and efforts to combat the menace of terrorism; and discuss regional and global issues of mutual interest." The visit of President Ghani comes after high level bilateral exchanges between the two countries, including the recent visits of Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, Chief Executive of Afghanistan and that of the Foreign Minister of Afghanistan Salahuddin Rabbani to India for the meeting of the bilateral Strategic Partnership Council which was co-chaired by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
