Cement Production To Increase

Kabul (BNA) With the completion of the installation and montage of the sub-station of electricity and activation of the oven No 2 of the new Puli Khumri cement Factory a marked decrease would come in the price of each sack of cement. 
Eng. Salamudden Ahmadi, head of the board of directors of the Afghan investment company said that presently the volume of cement production by using of one oven of the factory and one oven of the new factory is 700 tons of cement daily and this will increase to 1400 tons daily. 
The source said that currently a bag of cement is sold at Afs 260 and added that presently they face problems in terms of repairing of the factory No. 1 and activation of the second oven of the factory 2 due to shortage of electricity and the required spare parts of the ovens. 
He stressed that the spare parts were formerly procured from the former Czechoslovakia and by implementation of the reparation activities more cement will be produced. 
He added that the ministry of mines intends that in order to meet the requirements of the people in terms of logical cement; more factories will be established in Samangan and Parwan provinces. 
The source noted that shortage of coal is another problems and they are trying to procure the needed equipment for extraction of coal for the Karkar, Dudkash, Ahen dara and Khurd Dara so that their need for coal is met. 
It should be noted that the Ghuri Cement along with four coal mines in Puli Khumri were awarded through a contract to an Afghan investment company in 1386.
