Govt. Commission On Counter-Disaster Management Authority Holds Meeting

Kabul (BNA) The government commission on countering disaster with vice president Mohammad Karim Khalili on the chair held meeting yesterday.
According to BNA, in the meeting, the vice president besides expressing sympathy with the victims of recent natural disasters had expressed his gratitude to the friendly countries, international agencies, national traders and civil societies to the affected people.
Khalili said that in the beginning there were complaints about aid distribution among the affected people in Badakhshan but the problems have been following the appointment of commission to look after the aid distribution.
The deputy to counter disaster management authority presented his report about the recent natural disaster, saying the identified 302 persons have been specified in Argo district where 300 families had been buried in landslide. He also said that 40 million Afghanis in cash had been shifted to the affected people in Badakhshan and 6 million and 703500 Afghanis contributed by communication companies and the employees of the ministry for communication and some 140,000 US dollars by the head of high peace councils and other dignitaries contributed to the affected people in Badakhshan.
For more than 1300 affected families, humanitarian assistance including blankets, tents, flour, rice, cooking oils and other items have been provided by international aid agencies and government bodies, he said, adding Azerbaijan, Tajikistan and Pakistan have also helped the affected people. Afghan-Turk schools also contributed food stuff and tents to help the affected people in Badakhshan. Since 2nd Saur 157 people have lost their lives in floods, the deputy to counter disaster management authority said in his report at the meeting.
