Australia Pledges Peace, Economy Get Success In Afghanistan

Kabul (BNA) Deputy Foreign Minister on political affairs, Hekmat Khalil Karzai in a meeting with Australian ambassador to Kabul discussed on expansion of cooperation with Afghanistan and Australia yesterday.

In the meeting, Khalil Karzai while considering Australia as key political and economic partner of Afghanistan praised the country for its continued support in various sectors as reconstruction, maintaining peace and stability and counter narcotics in Afghanistan. Karzai also praised Australia for providing $100m new financial assistance to Afghanistan for counter narcotics in the country. “New government of Afghanistan has put maintaining peace and stability in its top apriority to strengthen democratic values in the country where the process was going well in cooperation with neighboring countries and the international community,” Karzai said, asking Australia for further cooperation in this regard. Meanwhile, the Australia ambassador to Kabul while praising the National Unity Government for its steps, activities and useful reforms in political and economic system in particular prioritizing peace issue in Afghanistan committed that his country would jointly work with the international community and for maintaining peace, stability and strengthening of economy in Afghanistan. According to another report, Karzai met yesterday with UN chairman for counter narcotics and crimes to Afghanistan.
