Nawaz Sharif and Bilawal Bhutto on the Verge of Forming a Coalition Government

KABUL (BNA): Following last Thursday’s elections in Pakistan, no single political party managed to secure an absolute majority of votes to claim the Prime Minister’s post. As a result, efforts are now underway to form a coalition government in the country.

The Muslim League Party, led by Nawaz Sharif, and the Pakistan People’s Party, led by Bilawal Bhutto, secured the first and second positions in these elections as independent parties.

In a joint statement, they announced that they are nearing an agreement on the formation of a joint coalition government.

Imran Khan’s Tehreek-e-Insaf Party, which did not have official status in these elections, claimed that the candidates they supported won 92 seats more than all the other parties in Pakistan. The party alleged that the election process was manipulated, significantly impacting its supported candidates.

Supporters of the Tehreek-e-Insaf Party have been protesting in various parts of Pakistan and have filed a case in the Supreme Court over the alleged ‘rigged’ election results.
