Minister Zuhair, Turkmen Ambassador Discuss Cultural Cooperation

Kabul (BNA) Acting Minister of Information and Culture Mohammad Tahir Zuhair met yesterday with Turkmen Ambassador to Kabul and discussed the development of cultural relations between the two countries.

The Ambassador of Turkmenistan assured his country’s readiness to develop cultural cooperation, especially the reconstruction and restoration of the Sultan Hussain Bayeqra tomb and stressed the need to draft and sign a memorandum of understanding for cultural cooperation between the Ministry of Information and Culture and cultural officials of Turkmenistan.

The Ambassador noted that cultural programs, especially cultural week, will be held in the two countries and that events on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence will be also organized in Afghanistan.

The Acting Minister of Information and Culture called Turkmenistan a good neighbor and friend of Afghanistan, adding that the two countries have many and close cultural commonalities.

Minister Zuhair emphasized the cooperation in repairing and rebuilding Sultan Hussain and Kamaluddin Behzad’s tombs, preserving and restoration of cultural heritage and historical monuments, exchanging cultural experiences and holding seminars and joint cultural programs between the two countries.

The Turkmen ambassador assured his country’s cooperation in the mentioned areas and noted that they will repair and rebuild the tomb of Sultan Hussein Bayeqra in western Herat province.
