Minister of Higher Education Meets UNESCO, UNAMA Senior Officials

KABUL (BNA) Mawlawi Abdul Baqi Haqqani, Acting Minister of Higher Education, met with UNESCO President and UNAMA Vice President for Political Affairs to discuss co-operate with the international community to strengthen the country’s educational institutions.
According to reports, in a meeting, the acting Minister of Higher Education mentioned the reopening of universities and the continuation of education of students, and asked for their cooperation to strengthen the scientific and educational affairs of the country.
“We want all young people to be educated and for this purpose, schoolings are being conducted with few facilities.” Haqqani said
The acting Minister of Higher Education added: “The salaries of university professors have been paid, but we are facing a problem with the cost of dormitories and student transportation, and we would like to asked the international community to help us to strengthen our educational institutions.”
“We understand the educational challenges of Afghanistan and try to convince the world to work together so that Afghan students can study equally,” said the UNESCO Director-General.
