Islamic Emirate Will Play Important Role in Upcoming International Conference on Afghanistan: UNAMA

KABUL (BNA): Scott Smith, the Political Affairs Director of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), has stated that the Islamic Emirate will play a crucial role in the forthcoming international conference on Afghanistan.

This statement was made during a meeting with Mawlavi Zakir, the Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister’s Office.

Smith highlighted the urgent humanitarian needs in Afghanistan, referencing the recent earthquake in Herat and the forced deportation of Afghans.

He noted that these events have had substantial negative impacts, thereby increasing the need for immediate assistance.

Smith also praised the Islamic Emirate for their efforts in providing essential facilities for returning Afghans.

Expressing gratitude for UNAMA’s active presence and cooperation in Afghanistan, Mawlavi Zakir urged the United Nations to eliminate any limitations and obstacles for the Islamic Emirate.

He emphasized the importance of positive collaboration and expressed the Islamic Emirate’s ambition to alleviate poverty through the implementation of large-scale projects. Zakir acknowledged the necessity of assistance from the United Nations and the international community in achieving these goals.

As winter approaches, Zakir reiterated the need for the United Nations to extend and continue its humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people. He stressed the importance of this aid in the current situation.
