Kabul (BNA) China is an effective country in regional relations and can be an effective factor in restoring stability in Afghanistan and closeness of the countries of the region.
BNA political analyst commenting on the issue writes the Chinese army chief recently visited Kabul. During his stay, he met president Ghani and some other Afghan high-ranking officials.
The visit of this Chinese high ranking officials took place exactly in time that the last quadripartite session of Afghanistan, Pakistan, China and US held in Kabul and the roadmap for Afghan peace negotiations finalized and the date for holding session between the representatives of Afghan government and Taliban set up. In process, the role of People’s Republic of China is very important, because China plays a significant role in regional and international developments and because of its neighborhood with Afghanistan and its influence on Pakistan, the host country of the leaders of Afghan armed opposition is of special importance.
Islamic Republic of Afghanistan tries using the possibilities and influence of China in regional relations, establish a proper atmosphere for Afghan peace process, the idea welcomed by Chinese and practically interred the process and cooperates.
As the Chinese army chief in his visit with the president of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan made it clear that his country hails the efforts and struggle of Afghan government against terrorism and extremism and promised his country’s cooperation in that process. He announced that China tries to hold a conference with the participation of the leaders of the countries of the region to assess the cooperation on counter terrorism struggle.
This Chinese high ranking military official insisted that struggle against terrorism and extremism should carry out in the framework of quadripartite cooperation among China, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and Pakistan. The cooperation can be also including of exchanging intelligence information.
The statements above indicate that China as a powerful county in the region, meanwhile vulnerable of terrorist activities want to increase regional cooperation in that regard.
According to political elites, the Chinese stance on extension of regional cooperation is much similar to Afghanistan’s stance can be useful to the stability of the region.
We hope the People’s Republic of China using its influence on Pakistan; exert necessary pressure on that country to desist from regional adventures and act according its commitments earlier made, because regional cooperation can lead to restoring stability and economic growth and at last ends the poverty Pakistan and other countries of the region currently suffering. To achieve this humane goal the role of China is great.
