Health Minister and Chinese Ambassador Discuss Future of Afghan Healthcare

KABUL (BNA): A meeting took place on Tuesday between Dr. Qalandar Ebad, the Acting Minister of Public Health, and Zhao Xing, the Chinese Ambassador to Kabul. The meeting, held at the Minister’s office, focused on several key issues related to the health sector in Afghanistan.
The Public Health Ministry released a statement outlining the main discussion points. These included the reconstruction of Jomhouriat Hospital, enhancing the skills of Afghan doctors, investing in the health sector, and controlling diseases such as COVID-19 and polio. The statement also highlighted the need for improved coordination between Afghanistan and China.
Dr. Ebad emphasized the importance of China’s cooperation in rebuilding and enhancing the skills of health personnel in Afghanistan. He noted the vast human resources available in Afghanistan’s health sector and the necessity of capacity building.
Ambassador Zhao Xing acknowledged the importance of bilateral cooperation and assured continued support from China to Afghanistan’s healthcare sector.
