Kyrgyzstan Supports Afghanistan’s Full SCO Membership, President Atmabayev

Tashkent (BNA) On the sideline of SCO heads of the States summit in Tashkent, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met with Kyrgyz president Almazbek Atambayev here the other day, a presidential statement said, adding that the both sides discussed bolstering bilateral ties.
President Almazbek said that his country is supporting Afghanistan’s SCO full membership, adding that Kirgizstan wants enhanced relation with Afghanistan.
The two sides also discussed connecting of the two countries through railroad and termed CASA-1000 as key regional project, emphasizing for increasing of such projects.
President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani said that preliminary studies have been carried out to establish the railroad which to some extend have been finalized on behalf of Afghanistan, adding that the working process on extending the railroad from Turkmenistan and Tajikistan to Afghanistan is underway, and would be finalized in the near future. The president also noted that Afghanistan is ready to include Kyrgyzstan and Iran in mentioned project, which would result to shared economic interest for all entities. President Ghani also said that we have paved the way for positive trade of energy in the region and Afghanistan would soon turn to energy transit hub.
