Earthquake Survivors Call for Permanent Housing Solutions in Herat

HERAT (BNA) – Dozens of families affected by the devastating earthquake in Herat province have been provided with temporary shelter as they await the completion of their original homes.

The cabins, totaling 37 in number, were handed over to the earthquake survivors in the Karnil Wardak area of the Zinda Jan district.

Shakib Shahabi, the project manager, stated that the construction of these standard cabins was made possible with community assistance, amounting to a cost of $70,000.

The cabins were specifically allocated to families facing serious shelter needs.

During the ceremony held to mark the handover, Mawlavi Hayatullah Mohajer, the Deputy Governor of Herat, highlighted the ongoing efforts of the Islamic Emirate to support the earthquake victims.

He noted that over a thousand houses have been constructed for the affected communities, with some still under construction.

While the earthquake survivors expressed gratitude for the temporary cabins, they emphasized the need for permanent housing solutions.

They voiced their hope for the swift completion of their original homes, which are currently being constructed.

The construction work for the homes of the Herat earthquake victims is actively underway, indicating progress in addressing the long-term housing needs of the affected families.

Authorities and relief organizations continue to collaborate to ensure the well-being and recovery of the earthquake survivors, aiming to provide them with safe, comfortable, and permanent housing as soon as possible.
