NPC Approves 10 Contracts Worth 2 Billion Afghanis

Kabul (BNA) Presided over by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the national procurement commission’s (NPC) session was held Monday evening at presidential palace, in which 10 contracts worth 2 billion Afghani were approved.
Besides approving the contracts including six road projects, the national procurement commission approved timely extension of 36 carpeted staples as well as approved suggestion for starting to process procurement, purchasing, installation and activation of security cameras for Kabul green zone conditionally to approval of the project’s donor. Also, Ministry of Interior Affairs recalled of starting procurement of three other contracts for special security measure of the respective area.
In the session, a project for design, provision, installation and completion of 110 KV electricity extension suggested by DABS for Kandahar was restored by commission for further review. President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani stressed in this regard that Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) should be changed to a top organization to deliver services to the people; therefore, it was necessary that desirable capacity in human resources and services delivery were created in the organization.
The country’s President also instructed that overall audit should be carried out in DABS so vacuums would be detected and its reforms process make the department more effective. Meanwhile, national procurement commission by considering participation of top international companies as key in implementation of the projects stressed on creating a reliable reference for approval of international companies in particular Chinese, Turkish and Indian companies and their documents. In this regard, a delegation was tasked to investigate the issue through the respective countries’ embassies to Kabul and Afghanistan embassies to those countries.
