Culture Should be Top Working Priority: Minister Zuhair

Kabul (BNA) Head of students Union of Kabul University in a meeting with acting and nominee Minister of Information and Culture, Mohammad Tahir Zuhair, briefed him on their activities, Bakhtar Information Agency reported yesterday.

Accompanied by a number of students, Omaid Mehryar head of the union briefed the acting minister on their plans, goals and activities and asked the ministry leadership to help the union, according to the agency.

He pointed to the upcoming ‘National Students Debate’ and establishment of the countrywide students’ union, the agency added. He also said that the program would be held in close cooperation with the deputy ministry of youth affairs, where representatives of the government and private institutes of higher education would be invited.

The head of union went on saying that student would discuss peace process, establishment of a countrywide union for students, their problems as well as would present their proposals for improving of the quality of curriculums at the universities.

The acting minister of information and culture said much attention has not been paid to the culture in the country, adding that culture should be a top working priority. He also assured ministry’s cooperation with the union, saying would spare no efforts to extend cooperation with you and the students union.
