Afghanistan Needs International Community’s Support In Counternarcotic: Gen. Dostum

Kabul (BNA) First Vice President, General Abdul Rashid Dostum described drugs as a common enemy of human beings and called for international support to fight the menace.
In his message readout at the seminar on rehabilitation of drugs addicts here yesterday, the vice president said that the government of Afghanistan need the support of world community in providing medical treatment and rehabilitation of addicts in hospitals and rehabilitation centers. The production and spreading drug claim the lives of countless people in the world including Afghanistan each day, the vice president said.
Afghanistan as a war-torn country has been facing the evil of drug including poppy cultivation and drug trafficking in its society over the past 10 years, the vice president said, adding the protracted war, poverty, security problems and high rate of unemployment have increased the number of drug addicts in the country which the menace claims the life of addicted people gradually.
