KABUL (BNA): The World Food Program (WFP) has revealed that it provided cash assistance to over 6 million individuals in Afghanistan last year.
On Sunday, February 3, the global food program announced that in the year 2023 alone, it disbursed cash to more than 6 million beneficiaries in Afghanistan.
The funds for cash aid were sourced from a variety of organizations and supporting nations, including Germany, Australia, and Norway.
The program emphasized that cash assistance not only bolsters people’s purchasing power but also contributes to the growth of the local economy.
Amidst economic challenges, Afghanistan currently has more than 23 million citizens in urgent need of assistance.
The United Nations has made a request for three billion dollars in aid for Afghanistan in the year 2024.
