16th Period of National Assembly Begins With President’s Address

Sunday, March 16, 2014 Kabul (BNA) The 16th period of forth legislature year of the national assembly was inaugurated with the address of president Hamid Karzai at the joint session of both the chambers yesterday after winter recess of the parliamentarians. According to BNA correspondent, the session also attended by cabinet members, chief justice, Attorney General and foreign guests including Mahmoud Khan Achakzai, Adeeb Fahim the son of late Marshal Fahim and Hassin Fahim the brother of late Marshal Fahim, first chairman of Wolesi Jirga Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi in his speech described Marshal Mohammad Qasim Fahim as the symbol of Jihad and resistance and condoled his demise with the people of Afghanistan, the president, and his family. Afterwards, the president in his address expressed sorrow over the death of Marshal Fahim, saying the late Marshal is not among us today and his demise is an irreparable loss. The president added, that today Marshal’s brother and son are among us and we wish patience for them and wish them success in serving the people like the late Marshal did. About the government achievements over the past 12 years, the president plainly briefed the national assembly about presidential elections, talks with Taliban, inking security agreement with the United States of America, freedom of expression and other fields.
