CM: Computerized IDs’ Distribution On Aug. 19

Kabul (BNA) The Government of Afghanistan would tentatively begin the issuance of electronic identity cards (IDs) or computerized Tazkira from August 19; this was stated at the 22nd session of the Council of Ministers (CMs) here yesterday.
In the meeting which was presided over by Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah variety of issues including the country’s situation, death of Mullah Omar and the peace process were discussed. Mullah Omar had used to live in Pakistan over the past 14 years and his death confirmed in Pakistan two years after his demise has raised variety of questions at home and abroad, Dr. Abdullah said, adding the doors of government is open for talks and Afghans want to have honorable peace and lasting peace in their country. CE Abdullah also lauded the courage of the personnel of national security forces in foiling the malicious designs of the enemies elsewhere in the country. However, the Chief Executive flaying participation of government officials in the memorial services of Mullah Omar, adding legal action would be taken against those officials who attended praying ceremony arranged for Mullah Omar. Speaking in the meeting, the minister for information and culture lashed at the information that enabled the president to thank Mullah Omar over his message on the eve of Eid-ul- Fitr in which he termed the peace talks as legitimate, adding it is for the National Directorate for Security (NDS) to initiate probe into the case. Presenting his report, acting minister for defense said that scores of enemies had been killed and injured last week. He also admitted that security forces had also suffered casualties but foiled the enemies’ conspiracies in different parts of the country including Helmand and Faryab provinces. The minister for interior in his report said that the report on Mullah Omar death is good news for security forces. He also expressed sorrow that some government servicemen had attended the praying ceremony for Mullah Omar and called for thorough action against those officials who propagate for enemies’ interests.
