Asif Ali Zardari Re-elected as Pakistan President for the Second Time

KABUL (BNA): Asif Ali Zardari has been nominated to represent the Pakistani populace in the Senate for a second term.

The announcement came after a public and state parliament session where Zardari emerged victorious, receiving an impressive 411 votes from representatives of the three chambers.

Zardari, the husband of the late Benazir Bhutto, former Prime Minister of Pakistan, has been a prominent figure in Pakistani politics since assuming leadership of the Pakistan People’s Party following his wife’s tragic assassination in December 2007.

The nomination of Asif Ali Zardari as a Senate representative highlights the trust and support he enjoys from his party members and the wider political landscape.

The presidential elections in Pakistan were held on February 8th, following the nationwide elections for the National Assembly and the four provincial assemblies.
