Afghanistan Demands SAARC, SCO To Fight Decisively Against Terrorism, Extremism: CM

Kabul (BNA) The periodical meeting of Council of Ministers (CM) with President Hamid Karzai on the chair held in Arg yesterday.
presidential press office stated BNA, at the outset, president Karzai briefed about his participation in the recently held Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) session in Dushanbe wherein the leaders of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan as members while Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Mongolia as observers discussed the economic, political and security issues in the region including the situation in Afghanistan and Ukraine as well as the strategy for expansion of SCO till 2025. The president in his speech at the summit described terrorism as common threat with rejecting using terrorism as instrument in foreign policy, calling upon SCO and SAARC to jointly fight against the terror menace.
President Karzai at the summit also called for economic cooperation of SCO member states with Afghanistan, which endorsed by council of ministers. Later on, the second vice president Mohammad Karim Khalili and head of national disaster management authority (NDMA) briefed about efforts for reviving of administrative units in Ghazni province and also said that 15 million Afghanis from the account of NDMA to assist with the martyrs families, injured and those affected by terrorist attacks in Ghazni. He also added that bank account 555 had been opened to collect more assistance for the terror attack-affected people in Ghazni city. The CM meeting urged upon concerned ministries and government entities to spare no efforts in reviving administrative units in Ghazni.
At the meeting, the minister for information and culture in line with the CM previous decisions presented the map for construction of public library in Yakatot area of Kabul which was approved. The minister for foreign affairs and director of environment directorate in line with the decision dates 25.5.1393 presented proposals and policy for protecting birds and encouraging investment in this sector which was rejected by the council of ministers and said that hunting birds in line with presidential decree should be prevented across the country. The ministry for interior has to check hunting falcon in Band-e-Amir area and the ministry for economy should not issue license to any NGO with regard to birds’ life if any it should annul it.
Later on, the minister for information and culture briefed about the decision of commission for preparation of Bamyan as cultural capital of SAARC in 2015 which was approved by the council of ministers. The CM also tasked the ministries for information and culture and finance to put price on non-government projects. The minister for information and culture also presented his report about allocating 25 acres land of Kandahar municipality for construction building to RTA in Kandahar and CM ministers approved allocation of just five acres of the land for the project.
