Tuesday November 17, 2015

Kabul (BNA) A center for the women’s scientific and productive was opened here in Kabul, where the country’s First Lady, Rula Ghani lauded the move and said it would help the country’s women produce further cocoon, part of the agricultural development.
While opening the center, she asked the women to try their best to produce more cocoon and revitalize the country’s agriculture. She blamed the recently importing of plastic stuffs instead of producing and using the most primitive silk products and asked for encouraging the women to revitalize the country’s products. Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Imamuddin Haidari who had attended the ceremony, called the opening of the hub for the women scientific and productive works and said his ministry was trying to expand the skill in other provinces of the country to help the rural women get trained and skilled in this respect. He called the main aim of opening the center for the women was to help them beef up their capacity, remove their training challenges and illuminate their role in the country’s sustainable agriculture and food immunity.
The center was opened in support from the UN Development Program in which, some 100 women would get developed agriculture, trade experience and marketing in the country. Because of the lack of the other economic sectors like industry and commerce, agriculture has played significant role in the country’s national gross products, as 80 percent of the country’s people are farmers and meet their economic problems through agronomy and husbandry. Meanwhile, in many parts of Afghanistan’s remote areas, women are engaged in agriculture alongside the men and tackle their economic problems via the skills. A woman, Shayesta who is engaged in work on the farmland told that they needed to be trained in work on cocoon producing in the country as she wanted to go ahead with the traditional skill, with long background among the people. She asked the NGOs for carrying their works in coordination with the ministry of agriculture to be able to work well for the country’s women. A number of women complained that there were large number of women running their own related farms, but they have no markets for their products. According to the ministry of agriculture, 53 percent of women are engaged in works on the agriculture farms, but failing to receive enough revenue.
