Ahmad Zia Saraj Introduced As Acting NDS Chief

Kabul (BNA) President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, in a ceremony, introducing the acting chief of the National Directorate of Security (NDS), after expressing condolence over the Muharram 10th and the death of Ahmad Shah Massoud and the Martyrs Week, praised the country’s security forces and said as a result of their heroic, many key and strategic sites were retaken from insurgents, a statement from the Presidential Palace said Tuesday.
“I congratulate your victory in Wardoj and Yamgan districts of Badakhshan province,” said the president lauding the country’s security forces recent sacrifices.
The president said that the country’s security and defense forces have not been defeated and will never be defeated as they have capacity and firm determination, the statement quoted.
Pointing to the resignation of the former NDS chief, the country’s president said: “This was a good tradition from the former NDS chief who called himself responsible for the faults of his subordinates and then finally resigned.”
About the recently delayed peace process, he went on as saying that the peace process was possessed by the people of Afghanistan and the Afghan peace process was not regional, ethnical and sectarian, but is the will of the people of Afghanistan.
“Peace process was Afghan and its practicing would also be Afghan.  We convened national, regional and international consensus about peace and made condition for it, but the Taliban thought inaccurate.  This national would never surrender to force,” said the president assuring that the country would never retreat as the Afghans have chosen lasting peace.  Pointing to the ongoing presidential poll said the only way to overcome the 40-year crisis, is to implement the constitution and hold election.
He once again praised the country’s security and defense forces and said he had granted the title of ‘The Protectors of Democracy’ as they could successfully ensure security of the parliamentary election.
“Your duty is to fully ensure security of the forthcoming presidential election, in order to have an inclusive countrywide and transparent election,” said the president as quoted by the statement.
