Acting Foreign Minister Calls for Strengthening Ties with the World

KABUL (BNA): The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister, Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, has called for strengthening the current situation in Afghanistan, which has good relations with its neighbors, the region, and the world.

He made this remark during a meeting with Robert Charterton Dixon, the British Charge d’Affaires for Afghanistan, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Dixon welcomed the opportunity for economic and political development in Afghanistan, along with humanitarian assistance. He expressed his support for a peaceful and stable Afghanistan, and condemned violence for political purposes.

Muttaqi praised the recent report of the UN Special Representative as mostly positive, but disagreed with the proposal of appointing a new envoy for Afghanistan, saying it was not appropriate for the current conditions.

Muttaqi also highlighted Afghanistan’s progress in various fields, and emphasized the need to enhance relations with neighboring countries, the region, and the world. He said Afghanistan was open for interaction with everyone, and urged for increasing trade between Afghanistan and Britain.
