KABUL (BNA): The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has confirmed that American forces have carried out attacks on Iranian interests in Syria and Iraq.
According to the commander, the strikes targeted positions of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and Iran-backed militias, part of the “Axis of Resistance.”
CENTCOM revealed that the airstrikes, conducted with multiple aircraft, hit 85 locations in the two countries early on Saturday morning. The statement did not specify any details or casualties resulting from the operations.
The US airstrikes are said to be a response to a recent attack on a US logistics base in Jordan, where three military personnel were killed and several others were injured.
The US has blamed Iran for the attack, and President Biden has stressed the necessity for a retaliatory response.
