Thousands of Needy Families Receive Cash and Household Items in Herat

Herat (BNA) The process of distributing humanitarian aid to thousands of needy families in Herat has begun.

The assistance is to be provided by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.

Shir Ahmad Ammar, the deputy governor of Herat, told BNA that in the meantime, 5,000 families would need and for each to receive $ 265.

The process of distributing aid to these families is supposed to take a week.

Rising unemployment, declining global aid and banking problems have exacerbated Afghanistan’s poverty.

The World Food Organization (WHO) said in a recent report that more than 70 percent of Afghans do not have enough food to eat, and 50 percent of them eat one meal out of three.
