Policewomen To Get 10,000 In Number: Interior Ministry

Kabul (BNA) Officials of the Interior Ministry have said that the number of policewomen in the ministry would rise up to 10,000 within the next 10 years.
The ministry, according to the officials had sent 190 policewomen to Turkey for training and after completion of the training course, 112 of them have been appointed in Kabul and provinces. Another group composed of 325 female police would be sent to Turkey for a six-month course. Head of gender department of the ministry, Mrs. Hekmat Shahi has said that in the absence of women police, the ministry cannot achieve its goal. Some 2,300 women are working as police officers, staff and police constables in the country while police strength is 157,000 presently.
