Dr. Raheen Congratulates Gaining Spirit of Sport Award By National Cricket Team

Kabul (BNA) Afghanistan National Cricket Team has gained Spirit of Sport Award for its remarkable successes and high performance in national and international competitions.
The arbitrators in Malaysia have said Afghanistan cricket team had started cricket from very primary level, but the team has been considered today as the best cricket teams in the world. They honored the other day Afghanistan cricket team with Spirit of Sport Award given by Sport Festival in Malaysia to Noor Mohammad Murad, executive head for Afghanistan cricket board.
Afghanistan cricket team performed very well in national and international competitions in 2013 and participated in T20 Asia Cup matches held in Bangladesh. Continuous achievements by the team have resulted in paving the ways for the country’s players to take part in 2015 World Cup which is expected to be held in Australia. Laureus Award was given annually based on performance of players to a winner selected by 46 experienced players and arbitrators’ panel of Laureus Foundation in Malaysia. Minister of Information and Culture Dr. Sayeed Makhdoom Raheen considered Afghanistan cricket team’s success as a big achievement to the country’s sportsmen and a lasting honor for the people of Afghanistan. He congratulated Laureus Spirit of Sport Award to chairman of Afghanistan’s cricket board, members of the board, cricket players and all sportsmen and fans of sports of the country, hoping the country’s sportsmen to reach further successes in the country and world.
It is worth mentioning that Afghanistan National Football Team was honored by FIFA with an award in 2013.
